Application of copper and aluminium electrode in electro coagulation process for municipal wastewater treatment: A case study at Karachi

The reuse of treated domestic wastewater is an imperative source water for numerous purposes. treatment municipal can be process by utilizing the technique electrocoagulation. Electrocoagulation (EC) eco-friendly that combines functions and advantages conventional coagulation, flotation, electrochemistry in treatment. aim present study was to assess potential electrocoagulation removing COD, BOD, TSS, turbidity, sulphate, nitrate, chloride TDS from wastewater. This experimental carried out at a batch system using copper aluminium electrodes aiming treat (0, 7, 14, 21 volts, 50mamp 60minutes) Sample Baloch Colony (SBC), Rind Goth (SRG), Cattle (SCC), Pakistan Machine Tool Factory (SPMTF) Mehran Highway (SMH). results revealed maximum removal efficiency COD 96% SPMTF, BOD 38.5% TSS 98.14% SMH, Turbidity 95.7% Sulphate 95.9% SRG, Nitrate 95.23% Chloride 97.92% SMH 96.9% SRG volt. suggested could safely lawns, parks, tree plantation recreation purpose.
